The Lions Club International has donated over $30million through the Measles Initiative Program to increase access to Measles Immunization to children in developing countries. Lions Club members are also volunteering in Measles Immunization in social mobilization and advocacy in order to increase number of children that will benefit from immunization against preventable child-killer diseases. WHO facts on Measles revealed that about 400 children die from measles every day and 15.6 million death have been prevented by through the immunisation program supported by the Lions Clubs.
The quarterly district cabinet meeting will hold at Ijebu Ode on January 30,216. All District Officers are expected to attend the meeting to deliberate on issues relating to progress of the district to service. In addition, the district will organize certified Guiding Lions Training for selected District and Club officers at same venue on January 29,2016.
The Chairman of Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr. Rotimi Olasogba, has applauded the Lions Club International for donating school bags to the less privileged pupils in Ondo State to complement the state government’s efforts at improving the education sector.
He gave the applause at the launching of 1000 backpacks for schools project in Ondo State by Lions Club District 404 A1 Nigeria, held at the Caring Heart Mega Primary School, Iro in Akure, the state capital.
The 1000 backpacks to School project was launched today October 8, 2015 in Asaba. The project is follow up to earlier held worldwide Save the Children program of Lions Club International where over 5000 children benefited.
